Regarding Radeon graphic bugs

Source: http://wot-news.com/main/post/03012013/2/Artefakty-u-vladelacev-videokart-Radeon

SS: basically, this concerns a Radeon graphic cards bug, where on some Radeon cards, the textures appear much darker than they should be and there are weird black shapes seen on object surfaces within the game.

Evilly (RU community head honcho):

There are two ways (how to fix it) - via the tray and via Ati Control Center

The first way (over the tray):
- in the tray, right click on the Catalyst control center icon
- in the menu that appears, select your videocard (on the top of the menu)
- select "3D-graphics parameters"
- in the submenu that appears, select "mapping level of detail" (SS: sorry, I don't have a Radeon card, I have no idea how this is in english - can someone tell? could be also something like "graphics detail level")
- select "High quality"

The second way (over AMD VisionEngine Control Center)
- rightclick on the desktop, select AMD VisionEngine Control Center (some people have a different name, for example Catalyst Control Center)
- in the window that appears, select "Options" and then follow the first way.

By JagdWehrwolf in English (for Catalyst control center)

- select "3D Settings"
- from submenu choose "Minimap detail level"
- select "High quality"

    1. It's the one that keeps giving the black screen.

  2. Damn... I screwed up the solution. Here's the correct one:
These are correct steps in CCC:
    - select "3D Settings"
    - from submenu choose "Minimap detail level"
    - select "High quality"

    To the rescue!

Right click on tray icon -> select proper adapter (i. e. "1. AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series" -> 3D Settings -> Catalyst A.I. : Texture filtering quality -> High quality / Quality / Performance - choose accordingly (High quality, that is).

    1. Oh BTW I have it set to Quality, not High quality, and I have no graphical glitches (HD 6850, 12.10 drivers). It also worked flawlessly when I was using HD 7970 for a couple of months in the same PC, same drivers.
I would also suggest that one creates an application profile for WOT rather than modify global settings, that can be done in the Catalyst Control Center under 3D Application settings.

  4. Hey,

I m Hellcry from German forums and we ve several people with this problem. One got it work with this solution but he has to restart his computer.
Before he restart he said he has some strange blow shadows if u aim on a tank.
So maybe SilentStalker, this should be added at our post that if after the change their r some strange viewings, a complete computer restart could solve this then.

    1. ok, I set it to "quality" instead of "high quality" and it works fine, no more textures lighting issues.

  6. Latest AMD VisionEngine Control Center does not have "mapping level of detail" option, now I can't find the previous VisionEngine Control download on amd site. (just returned a 7870 because of this and reinstalled my 6770 which works as well as it always did, 30-60fps with no other issues)
